The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Mohammed Ababio Quaye, has officially resigned from his office.
According to the MCE, who has served for over six and a half years, the decision is a result of ill health.
In a letter dated July 2, 2023, addressed to President Akufo-Addo, he noted that due to the nature of his illness and how it has impacted his duties in recent times, he has decided to step down for someone else to continue.
“My current health condition has significantly affected my ability to fulfil my duties and responsibilities effectively, despite my best efforts.
“The nature of my illness requires extended medical treatment and a period of rest and recuperation. As much as I would like to continue serving in my role, I believe it would be in the best interest of the Municipality to have someone who can continue to maintain the high standards and efficiency that our government demands.”
