2022/2023 winners of the Ghana Premier League, Medeama Sporting Club, have won the Champion of Champions title after beating Dreams FC at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The match, which was a curtain raiser for the 2023/2024 Premier League campaign, saw the winner of the Premier League and the winner of the MTN Cup face each other.
Dreams FC had a good start to the game, and created chances in the early parts of the first half, with John Antwi and Ishmael Dede coming close to giving Dreams the lead.
However, in a quick turn of events, Dreams paid the price for not taking their chances, as Jonathan Sowah fired Medeama into the lead in the 19th minute.
Five minutes later, Sowah scored a screamer to give his team a two-goal advantage.
The 24-year-old, who was given his first call-up to the national team, proved why he deserved it with a beautiful curling strike from outside the 18-yard box into the corner of the goalpost.
Dreams FC meanwhile, got a consolation goal after the break through a spot-kick to end the game 2-1 in favour of Medeama.
The 2023/2024 betPawa Ghana Premier League is however set to begin on September 15, 2023.
