Armed policemen in uniform attempted to forcefully enter the studios of Metro TV during a live broadcast of the popular morning show Good Morning Ghana on Wednesday.
The program, hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey and featuring panelists Kwesi Pratt and Richard Asante Yeboah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was abruptly disrupted as the police tried to breach the studio doors.
Reports indicate that two Metro TV security guards were injured in the scuffle, though the reasons for the police intrusion remain unclear.
Eyewitnesses said the situation unfolded while the panelists were discussing issues related to doctored tapes.
Dr. Abbey and the panelists are reportedly still inside the studio, with no official communication from the police on the motive behind the incident.
Metro TV is yet to issue a statement on the attack, while the injured security guards are receiving medical attention.
The incident has sparked concerns over press freedom and the safety of journalists during live broadcasts.
