The Chiefs of Mim Traditional Council, spearheaded by Mim Manhene Dr. Okofrobour Nana Yaw Agyei II, recently paid a visit to the President of the republic, Nana Akufo-Addo to advocate for more developmental projects in the Ahafo region.
The delegation, which also included Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Yaw Boakye, Member of Parliament for Asunafo North constituency Hon. Evans Opoku Bobbie, and Municipal Chief Executive of Asunafo North Hon. Osei Yaw Boahen, alongside other stakeholders, presented a compelling case for the elevation of Mim to district status and highlighted pressing developmental needs.
During the meeting, Mim Manhene, Dr. Okofrobour Nana Yaw Agyei ll expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the ongoing developmental projects in the Mim area, citing the establishment of a Polyclinic, NHIS Regional office, and other social interventions.
However, he emphasized the urgent need for additional support, particularly in the revival of the Mim timber company (Ayum), which could significantly contribute to the economic prosperity of the region.
Furthermore, Dr. Okofrobour Nana Yaw Agyei ll appealed to the President for assistance in addressing the deplorable state of roads in Mim.
Central to their request was the plea for Mim to be granted district status, a move that would empower the community to undertake more developmental projects independently and cater to the specific needs of its residents.
In response, President Akufo-Addo reassured the Mim Manhene and the delegation of his commitment to fulfilling their requests and also pledged to prioritize the granting of district status to Mim before the conclusion of his term.
