A petition alleging fraud on the part of the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Mr Martin Ayisi and two others have been lodged at the Economic and Organised Crime Outfit (EOCO) by one Michael Benziecie, a small scale miner and businessman.

In the petition, Mr Benziecie said having known the Minerals Commission CEO, Martin Ayisi, the latter introduced him to Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources Limited to assist him carry out his mining activities.

After an initial meeting, Mr Benziecie said he was also introduced to a Board Member of the same outfit, Rebecca Donkor who together with Angela List promised to facilitate his operations in their concession.

Deal:

According to Mr Benziecie, the two women asked for 100, 000 dollars to facilitate the deal for him.

The petitioner said he initially paid 50, 000 dollars and added the additional 50, 000 to make up for the full amount to the two later on.

However, the petitioner, Mr Benziecie said despite receiving the full amount he was denied access to the Adamus concession.

Resistance:

He recalled that at some point he was met with resistance and wild hostility by some people working for Adamus when he tried entering the concession.

Additionally, he noted that the two persons, Angela List and Rebecca Donkor denied knowledge about the deal he had cut with them including the monies he had paid to them.

“These two women gave me many assurances to facilitating the contract that would grant me entry into the Adamus concession before I paid the money but suddenly both claimed no knowledge about the agreement”, Mr Benziecie stated.

He said at a point the security personnel at the Adamus site heckled him and frustrated his efforts of seeking to enter the concession and carry out his business.

Police Attitude:

Reporting the matter to the Takoradi Police when things degenerated, Mr Benziecie said the police were apathetic and lukewarm about the matter.

He alleged that the Minerals Commission also displayed similar attitude when he reported same matter to the outfit.

EOCO:

Mr Benziecie has now petitioned EOCO to investigate the matter and grant him justice.

In the petition, he also asks the state agency to investigate the actions of the two women and the roles they played in taking his money and denying him access to the concession.

Mr Benziecie also appeals to EOCO to investigate the operations of Adamus Resources Limited and its security persons and to ascertain if they are doing legal or illegal mining.

Additional Information:

Meanwhile, at the time of going to press, sources at EOCO confirmed receipt of the petition.

However, our source noted that the Minerals Commission and Adamus Resources Limited were yet to make a comment or statement about the matter including the claims of the petitioner.
