President Akufo-Addo has appointed Mohammed Amin Adam as the new Finance Minister following the long-awaited ministerial reshuffle.
This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
President Akufo-Addo noted that Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam is expected to assume his new role with immediate effect.
In October 2022, some 80 NPP MPs demanded the immediate removal of Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.
Their decision was due to the current state of the country’s economy as they insisted that Ken Ofori-Atta’s continuous stay in office as the Finance Minister would further worsen the party’s chances in the 2024 general elections.
The reshuffle according to sources is a strategic move by President Akufo-Addo to inject new energy and fresh perspectives into his administration.
Other ministers who have completely been removed from office include the Roads Minister, Kwasi Amoako Attah and Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemen-Manu.
