The Mentorship and Climax of the event will be held on Tuesday 14th September and Wednesday, 15th September 2021 respectively at Sefwi Wiawso under the global theme “Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures”.

The Ministry has projected to train 3,000 girls in three regions namely, Western North, North East, and Savannah Regions in 2021.

Opening the training of the 2nd batch on Monday, 6th September 2021, Mr. Emmanuel Ofori, Deputy Director, PPBME on behalf of the sector minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, encouraged the girls to take the training seriously to gain maximum knowledge to guarantee them careers in ICT.

“Minister is hopeful that much enthusiasm will be generated amongst you for ICT education and careers and ensure greater female participation in the ICT sector. The whole world is moving away from manual systems to digital technology and the use of the internet to transact and access basic services. In siting an example, he indicated that in the past parents had to move from their houses to the school of their children to give them money, however this digital age, parents can use their phones through mobile money in the comfort of their homes to send money. Digital technologies will make access to services easier and comfortable to all. He indicated that the benefits of the digital technologies are also for the people of Western North and therefore they should ask questions to understand what was being taught.” he noted.

He urged the girls to take the studies serious to become great mentors in the ICT field in their communities. “If you take this training sessions serious, you will be one of the most outstanding girls and also win awards for yourselves and schools”.
