The Ministry of Youth and Sports has made a cash donation to the former U-20 coach of Ghana, Sellas Tetteh, to help him pay for his medical expenses.

Mr. Tetteh, who has for some time now not been well, alleged that he has not received some of his bonuses since winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

It is in light of this that a delegation from the ministry led by Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie, paid a visit to the U-20 World Cup winning coach at his residence in Accra on Monday, February 20, 2023, to inquire about the health condition of the coach and also to make a cash donation of fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHc50,000) on behalf of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to meet the medical expenses of the coach.

The visit, according to the Deputy Minister, is very important due to the role and contribution of coach Sellas Tetteh to the development of Ghana’s football, and he promised to continue to visit him.

Mr Michael Lassey Teivi, the coach’s brother, accepted the donation and thanked the Ministry.

The former Liberty Professionals head coach was instrumental in Ghana’s success in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which saw the Black Satellites emerge as the first African team to win the competition.
