The Minority in Parliament has rescheduled its OccupyBoG demonstration to Tuesday, September 12, 2023, due to the outcome of court proceedings on Monday, September 4.

The planned protest which was initially scheduled for Tuesday, September 5 is a call by the minority for the governor and his deputies to resign.

According to the minority, the governor of the central bank is mismanaging the country’s funds after it recorded an unprecedented loss of about GH¢ 60 billion and negative equity of GH¢ 55.1 billion; illegal printing of over GH¢ 80 billion and in the midst of this crisis, this reckless team is building a head office at the cost of over $250 million when the Public Procurement Authority initially recommended $81 million.

In statement signed by the Minority leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, he explained that the court was unable to give an instant ruling due to the weight of the preliminary legal objections raised by the lawyers for the Minority in Parliament.

The minority has therefore called on Ghanaians to remain resolute in the fight to protect their constitutional right to demonstrate.

“We wish to call on Ghanaians to remain resolute in the fight to protect our constitutional right to demonstrate and hereby assure them that the march to the Bank of Ghana Head Office will certainly take place on Tuesday, 12th September 2023,” the statement added.
