The Department of Children – Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in collaboration with UNICEF Ghana has engaged CLOGSAG on child protection issues at the 4th Quarter meeting and thanksgiving service of CLOGSAG on Thursday, 14th December 2023 at the Nathan Quao Auditorium, Accra.

The purpose of the event was to widen its reach in protecting the rights of children through the various platforms in the country.

It was also dedicated to promoting child online and the positive discipline of children.

Addressing the participants, the Principal Programme Officer at the Department of Children, Madam Abena Doku Aboagye on behalf of the Director for the Department of Children, Mrs. Florence Ayisi Quartey introduced Ghanaian Against Child Abuse (GACA) to the CLOGSAG Ladies as a behavioural change campaign that has been in existence for about six years.

She explained that the behavioural change campaign is conducted using a community child protection toolkit on some social media platforms.

Madam Abena Doku urged participants to use their platform to enlighten their societies on acts that may unknowingly hurt children.

Mrs Cynthia Asare Bediako, the immediate past Chief Director of the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation who also doubles as the chairperson of the event and also served as the former president of the CLOGSAGLAC, mentioned that women are the strong fibre of the society. Thus, CLOGSAG will never function effectively if they take the opportunity of being a civil servant for granted.

A Cyber Security specialist, Mr. Emmanuel Nyarko Tetteh advised parents to educate themselves about technology as it evolves and also learn some applications and games that their children are exposed to.
