The Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture have been ordered by the Auditor-General to ensure the recovery of five vehicles from Hon. Catherine Afeku and two others.
The former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Afeku is alleged to have taken possession of three vehicles [Toyota Land Cruiser – GV 535 -14, Toyota Land Cruiser-GS 2696-18 and Toyota Hilux-GX 2280-18] which was reassigned to Senior Minister’s Office on 30th April, 2019.
In contravention of Section 52 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), the Auditor-General’s report revealed that two former staffs, Jenny Adade and Olivia Opoku-Adomah whose appointments were terminated on 3rd September, 2018 and 11th September respectively still have in their possession two state cars [Toyota Corolla-GN 4231-15 and Toyota Land Cruiser-GT 4573-X].
According to the Auditor-General, the use of the vehicles by the individuals will attract rental charges at the current rental rate for the period during which the vehicles have been in their possession.
