The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Davis Ansah Opoku has supported 2025 BECE candidates in his constituency.
The handing over of the educational materials were made on Wednesday, June 4. All 1,284 students in the Mpraeso Constituency received their math-sets as they prepared for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Since 2021, the MP has supported 7,274 candidates with math sets. Additionally, he has honoured 270 candidates for their excellence and presented them with GHC 500 tokens.
This year, he has raised the level of donation. As of this year, in addition to the GHC500 token, any candidate that secures a single-digit aggregate (6-9) in the BECE will also receive a box containing every item to support their transition into senior high school.
During the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the MP pledged to assist JHS students who scored between aggregate 6 and 15. The MP highlighted that this initiative aligns with his vision to motivate students to achieve excellent academic results.
In November last year, a total of 50 high-achieving students were awarded GH¢500 each, amounting to GH¢25,000. The funds were intended to help them purchase essential items as they begin their journey into senior high school.
Mr. Opoku stated that recognizing students’ achievements will inspire them and encourage those preparing to take the BECE next year to excel.
“We also make allocations for students with disabilities, regardless of their grades. This is an ongoing process, and through the Ghana Education Service Directorate, I hope to receive the necessary data to support such students,” he noted.
The MP emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the government’s free SHS policy, urging all students to complete senior high school to gain fundamental education.
“We are working to secure scholarships for brilliant but needy students, with the support of the government. We facilitate connections with the scholarship secretariat to ensure these students can pursue tertiary education,” Mr. Opoku added.
Davis Ansah used the opportunity and advised the students pay attention to their books as they prepare for their final Basic Certificate Exam next week.
