The Member of Parliament for the Mpraeso Constituency, Davis Ansah Opoku, has extended support to top-performing BECE students in Mpraeso constituency.

During the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the MP pledged to assist JHS students who scored between aggregate 6 and 15.

Speaking to Republic Online journalist Andy Frimpong Manso, representative for the MP, Prince Boateng highlighted that this initiative aligns with MP’s vision to motivate students to achieve excellent academic results.

As part of the MP’s annual commitment to support and improve BECE results in the Mpraeso Constituency, he introduced the MP’s Excellence Awards Program.

This year, he went beyond the initial 50 students because many more excelled. In all, 69 students received tokens to support their Senior High School Education. For those who scored single digits, He presented them with a chop box filled with provisions to begin their next chapter with confidence.

“It is always an honour to play a part in shaping brighter futures for our young people. Next year, the MP looks forward to adding a special certificate to the package to inspire excellence among our students further”, Mr. Boateng stated.

A total of 69 high-achieving students were awarded GH¢500 each, amounting to ¢34,500. The funds are intended to help them purchase essential items as they begin their journey into senior high school.

Ansah Opoku believes that recognizing students’ achievements will inspire them and encourage those preparing to take the BECE next year to excel.

“We also make allocations for students with disabilities, regardless of their grades. This is an ongoing process, and through the Ghana Education Service Directorate, I hope to receive the necessary data to support such students,” he noted.

The MP emphasized the importance of taking advantage of the government’s free SHS policy, urging all students to complete senior high school to gain fundamental education.

“We are working to secure scholarships for brilliant but needy students, with the support of the government. We facilitate connections with the scholarship secretariat to ensure these students can pursue tertiary education,” Mr. Opoku added.

Additionally, the rep for Kwahu South Education Director commended the MP for undertaking such a remarkable gesture each year.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the MP for his unwavering support of education in the district.
