The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency, Davis Ansah Opoku has supported some best performing BECE students in his constituency.

The Legislator, during last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination, pledged to support JHS who would attain an aggregate 6 to 15.
Speaking in an interview with Republic Press’s Andy Frimpong Manso, the MP indicated that, this is in line with his vision to ensure that Students are motivated to make good grades.

Some 50 selected best-performing students were given Gh¢500 each, totalling Gh¢25,000. These monies are to enable them to get some provisions while they begin their first journey to second-cycle education.
Mr. Opoku said the pupils knowing that the MP will commend them when they pass well, will encourage them and also those who are yet to write their BECE next year to do it well.

“We also make allocations for the disabled students irrespective of the grade they had. It is an ongoing process so, through the Ghana Education Service Directorate, I am hoping they will bring the data for us to support such students”, he noted.
He said the government has implemented free SHS so every student must take advantage of it and at least complete Senior High School to give him or her a basic understanding.

“We are hoping to get a scholarship for brilliant but needy students with the help of the government. However, we facilitate the scholarship secretariat office to make sure the students will get scholarships and pursue their tertiary education”, he added.
The MP for Mpraeso constituency also commended Dr. Yaw Adutwum, the Educational Minister for the arrangements done concerning computer placement and also, for the innovative ideas he has brought to the education sector.

Some of the students expressed their gratitude to the honourable MP for his continued support of education in the district.
