Mr President, first of all I must say I am in love with your costume and everything about it including the setup for your swearing in. I congratulate you on your swearing-in ceremony, which showcased the best of Ghanaian creativity.

As you begin your new term, I urge you to surround yourself with a focused team to help you achieve the ambitious goals outlined in your manifesto.

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Ghana is rich in resources, yet many of its citizens struggle with poverty. This paradox highlights the need for strategic investment in industries that can create jobs, stimulate innovation, and promote sustainable development.

The fashion and beauty industry is indeed an area of great promise. With its potential to employ over 70% of Ghana’s youth, both directly and indirectly, it’s a sector that deserves attention and support.¹

To tap into this potential, we need to focus on developing the industry’s infrastructure, providing training and resources for entrepreneurs and artisans, and promoting Ghanaian products globally.

Some inspiring examples of Ghanaian women who are already making a mark in the beauty industry include Violet Amoabeng of Skin Gourmet, Fulera Seidu of Nzua by Nature, Tutuwaa Ahwoi of Nokware, Sharon Agyapong of Eya Naturals, and Israella Kafui Mansu of MGL Naturals. These women are proof that with dedication and hard work, Ghanaian businesses can thrive and compete globally.

I implore you to prioritize the development of the fashion and beauty industry, providing the necessary infrastructure, training, and resources to help entrepreneurs and artisans thrive.

As we move forward, we should be committed to working with stakeholders to create an enabling environment for the fashion and beauty industry to flourish. This includes addressing challenges such as access to finance, infrastructure, and markets, as well as promoting sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

I wish you success in your second term and look forward to seeing the positive impact of your leadership.
