League Aduana Stars were dealt with a blow in the MTN FA Cup on Sunday as King Faisal eliminated them from the competition on penalties.
Aduana took the lead just a few minutes to the end of the first half, with Stephen Anokye Badu’s powerful header after King Faisal’s goalkeeper Adams Abdul Jabal was completely out of place when a corner-kick was swung into the 18-yard box.
Meanwhile, King Faisal responded quickly two minutes into the start of the second half by getting the equalizer through Abdul Latif, who scored from a penalty after Godfred Asiamah was brought down in the box.
The Dormaa based club took the lead again in the 75th minute through Frank Owusu but coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu’s men got back on level three minutes after.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes and travelled to extra time. Both teams could not score again in the extra time, and the tie had to be decided on penalties.
However, King Faisal made it to the semi-final after winning 3-1 on penalties.
King Faisal will now take on Nsoatreman FC in the semi-final of the competition.
