The Member of Parliament for Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has announced plans to procure tricycles, commonly known as ‘pragyia,’ to transport students from remote communities within the constituency to and from school.
According to the MP, this initiative is aimed at reducing absenteeism and encouraging parents to enroll their children in school at an early age.
He made this known during the 2025 Kumawu MP Teachers’ Awards ceremony, held under the theme “Motivating the Teacher; The Tool for Educational Transformation.”
As part of efforts to recognize and reward outstanding teachers, the event saw the Overall Best Teacher receiving a refrigerator, while a teacher serving in one of the most remote communities was awarded a motorbike.
Hon. Anim also assured constituents of his commitment to fixing dilapidated roads in rural areas to improve transportation and make movement easier for residents.
Meanwhile, Kumawu Kyidomhene, Oheneba Kwasi Agyekumhene, urged teachers to enforce discipline by discouraging students from playing video games and loitering late at night.
The Kumawu District Education Director, Mr. Kwame Oduro Owusu, encouraged teachers who were not awarded this year to continue working hard for future recognition.
Speaking at the event, the Overall Best Teacher, Paulina Afia Ago, appealed to authorities to post more teachers to the district to improve the quality of education.
