The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region has scheduled an Extraordinary Delegates Conference for Sunday, January 21, 2024, to confirm unopposed aspiring Parliamentary Candidates for the Karaga, Tolon, Gushegu, Bimbila, and Tatale-Sanguli constituencies.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the party during a crucial meeting on Wednesday, January 17, announced the final aspiring candidates to contest in the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries after a report by the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee (NPAC) and the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee (NPVC) regarding the eligibility of aspirants to contest in the parliamentary elections was submitted
In a statement signed by the Northern regional secretary, Prof. Hudu Zakaria, said “in reference to the General Secretary’s Press Release (Ref: NPP/HQ/2024/GS/PP) dated 17th January 2024, communicating the decisions of the National Executive Committee in its meeting held on 17th January 2024, the Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba, in accordance with Article 7(31) of our party’s constitution hereby direct you to convene an Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference”.
The statement further revealed that the conference is a milestone aimed at strengthening the party’s democratic process and building a unifying front towards a successful election in December.
The party took the opportunity to officially inform the District Director of the Electoral Commission and the District Police Commander of the respective constituencies.
