NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) in a release has called on the government to demand unpaid nine (9) month allowances.

In a statement signed by the National President, Mr Dennis Opoku Katakyie on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, the association lamented that the non-payment of their salary for nine months has made life unbearable due to the current economic challenges.

They bemoaned how many calls on the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to intervene appear to have fallen on deaf ears.

According to them, “failure to pay the arrears will create an indelible scar to discredit government’s good works so far as Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) is concerned.

The program has been beneficial but if care is not taken to redress the outstanding payment issues, the pain suffered by trainees will swallow the gains made by the initiative on the face of the current government,” NABTAG stated in a release.

The Nation Builders Corps program known as NABCO was introduced in 2018 by the Akufo-Addo-led Government to help address and possibly resolve graduate unemployment issues in the country. The initiative was rolled out in 6 modules, so a lot of Ghanaian youth jumped in on the opportunity.
