The government has presented 10 Nissan Navara pickup vehicles to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to enhance surveillance, improve rapid response, and strengthen the Commission’s operational capacity in the fight against organised crime.

The vehicles were handed over by the interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak as part of broader efforts to reinforce national security and improve public health outcomes by disrupting drug trafficking and other related criminal networks.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Asawase Mrmber of Parliament (MP) reaffirmed the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama and his administration to increasing support for NACOC and other security agencies.

He said the donation forms part of a wider strategy to strengthen law enforcement institutions and equip them to respond effectively to evolving security threats.

“Our resolve as a government is to ensure that key security agencies are adequately resourced to carry out their mandate in protecting the nation and its people,” he said.

The Director-General of NACOC, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, expressed appreciation to the government for the continued logistical support, describing the vehicles as a timely intervention.

He noted that the additional pickups would significantly enhance NACOC’s operational effectiveness, particularly in surveillance and rapid-response operations, and assured that the vehicles would be deployed responsibly and properly maintained.

NACOC plays a critical role in Ghana’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and related organised crime, working with both local and international partners to safeguard public health and national security.
