NADMO DG inspects decade-long abandoned rescue ambulance boats at Tema Shipyard

The Director General of NADMO, Major Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd), has inspected two NADMO Rescue Ambulance Boats that have been left idle at the Tema Shipyard for almost a decade.

These boats were originally commissioned to enhance rescue operations and provide emergency medical support on Ghana’s water bodies, but have since been neglected.

Dr. Kuyon expressed deep concern about the situation, stressing that such vital life-saving assets could have helped prevent recent tragedies on the nation’s rivers.

“If this ambulance boat had been functional on the Oti River, the recent drowning incident might have been avoided,” he noted.

He has therefore directed NADMO engineers, in collaboration with the Ghana Navy, to assess and refurbish the boats for immediate deployment.

“These are life-saving gems that must be brought back to life to serve their purpose, saving lives on Ghana’s water bodies,” he emphasised.
