As part of the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP) persistent efforts to achieve its objective of providing alternative employment and livelihood opportunities to its targeted beneficiaries, NAELP has partnered with Anglogold Ashanti, Obuasi Mine to train 115 youth and women in communities affected by illegal mining in five (5) selected trade areas including enterprises and skills development.
A three-day working visit led by the Deputy Coordinator of NAELP, Mr. Benedict Addae, officials from NAELP and representatives from Ghana Enterprises Association (GEA)has commenced on Monday, 27th May 2024 to among others inspect the ongoing training program for beneficiaries and motivate trainees to work hard to earn a vocational/technical training.
The first day of inspection focused on visits to well equiped training centres, meetings and interactions with trainees and instructors. The skills acquired include electrical training, welding and fabrication, electronics, leather works and fashion.
Speaking to the participants on behalf of the National Coordinator of NAELP, Dr. Carol Serwaa Donkor, the Deputy Coordinator commended their efforts and commitment to fully embrace the skills training offered to earn a decent livelihood.
He indicated that NAELP in collaboration with the Ghana Enterprises Association (GEA) will continue to support trainees with start-up kits to help in establishing their own businesses.
