Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, and one of her co-accused have entered into plea bargain negotiations with the Office of the Attorney General in their ongoing trial over the alleged unlawful publication of intimate images.
The charges, filed under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), include abetment and conspiracy to commit a cybercrime. The case, which was initially dismissed by the Circuit Court, was refiled at the High Court in Accra, where proceedings are currently ongoing.
Although details of the plea negotiations remain undisclosed, the presiding judge, Justice Mary Ekue Yanzuh, acknowledged the talks in open court and expressed optimism that they would be concluded before the next scheduled hearing on October 21, 2025.
Meanwhile, a third accused person, Enoch Owusu Kissi, has declined to participate in the plea discussions. His legal team has instead filed a notice of appeal challenging the court’s earlier decision directing him to open his defence.
The trial has garnered significant public interest due to the involvement of Nana Agradaa, a controversial figure and former televangelist who is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for a separate conviction involving charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
Earlier this month, the court dismissed a submission of no case filed by Agradaa’s lawyers, ruling that the accused persons had a case to answer. Justice Yanzuh subsequently ordered all defendants to begin presenting their defence.
At the last hearing on July 7, Agradaa was absent from court, leading the judge to issue a directive to prison authorities to ensure her attendance at all subsequent sittings. She is presently in lawful custody at Nsawam Female Prison.
The current case relates to a broadcast aired on Agradaa’s defunct television station, Thunder TV. Prosecutors allege that during a live programme, she displayed nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum and later circulated the images via WhatsApp.
Co-accused persons, Charles Omane, also known as One Gig, and Enoch Owusu Kissi, are alleged to have taken part in the broadcast and made disparaging remarks concerning the images during the programme.
