Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that implementation of the National Rental Assistance scheme policy will first be piloted in five regions.
Speaking at the official launch of the scheme at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, he said revealed that the execution of the scheme will start in five regions.
“The scheme’s implementation will initially commence in five regions, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Eastern and Bono East Regions.”
He added that the scheme will therefore gradually be rolled out in all other Regions in due time, stating that those first five regions were chosen because that is where there is pressure on rent advance.
“As the minister for works and housing has said, these were chosen based on where the most pressure on rent advance is but the scheme will be rolled out to all sixteen regions of Ghana in due course.”
The National Rental Assistance Scheme is a manifesto promise by the National Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020, with the vision of assisting young graduates, as well as low-income earning Ghanaians to pay two to three years rent advance.
