The Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Wiredu has charged Churches and Mosques to take precautionary measures to ensure they provide security for their members.
In an up-close interview with the press on Monday, November 1, 2021 at a day engagement with stakeholders within the Municipality, he urged the leaders of the various religious bodies to prioritize the welfare and security of their members.
“I will urge the various religious bodies to ensure they provide good security for their members, the NCCE together with other stakeholders in the Municipality have met to see the way forward on security measures, armed robbers in recent times normally target churches especially during all night service and other activities, so I will plead with them to join hands with the security agencies in order to provide security for their members”, he stated.
However, he noted that, since security is paramount to every individual, it will be prudent if Churches and Mosques can set up security committees within their organizations as part of their measures to curb the insecurity situations.
“At least these Churches and Mosques can establish security committees within their churches and mosques to provide security for the congregation and stuff during church service and other crucial activities , I will plead with them to stop been reluctant on such pertinent issues”.
