Mark Oliver-Kevor, an aspiring Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress has called for competent executives to represent the party to compete against the forefront of the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 general elections.
According to him, it has become necessary for new and energetic youth to take over the center and the running affairs of political parties in the country to help reshape the fortunes of the country.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Koranteng on Anɔpa Dawuro on Republic Fm, Friday, August 12, the Former Eastern Regional secretary touted himself as the best candidate to run the affairs of the party in the region.
“I’m not to judge anyone’s work. Everybody has their strengths and for those that were allowed to serve, we saw their strengths and we gave them the opportunity but at this critical moment, I can do better than what they did. This is not because they did not do well but I feel that, from where we have gotten to, we need to put our best forward.
NPP has elected their executives, we have seen them, we have seen the calibre of persons they elected and even at the National headquarters of a party like NPP for strategic reasons because I know the strategy behind why they feel a young man should be the General Secretary (the engine of the party) at this particular time. And if we must respond, we must do so well. Fortunately, they have conducted their elections before us, we are yet to go through the process to elect our executives.
In the region, we know the calibre of executives they elected, we must respond appropriately and in doing so, we must look at our best, bring them forward to lead the party, energize the youth and bring some hunger for power euphoria and beat the forefront of our opponents. We are coming from the opposition, they are in government and with regards to resources, they have more than you the opposition so you must have something different to beat them. In the 2024 elections, Eastern must be counted and that’s the reason why some of us are joining the league”, he stated.
He has therefore called for free, fair and honest elections. According to him, the party needs unity after the election and spending so much time doing reconciliation will not be beneficial for the party.
