Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bomaa Branch have convened a press conference to demand the immediate removal of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Pius Opoku.
The gathering, which took place on July 15, 2025, at the premises of the party’s Office, addressed growing concerns over alleged nepotism in appointments within the municipal assembly.
The party members accused the MCE of consistently appointing friends and family to key positions, including the School Feeding Coordinator and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Coordinator, while deserving locals have been overlooked.
They expressed their dissatisfaction with the current leadership, claiming that it has created an environment of mistrust and discontent among the community

“Many of our leaders have been treated poorly, with some even forced to sleep in the bush due to the MCE’s actions,” a spokesperson for the Bomaa Branch stated during the press conference.
“We have worked hard for our community and believe we deserve better representation.” The NDC members are calling for immediate action from President John Mahama and the Minister for Local Government. They demand that the MCE be removed or that order be restored to the municipal assembly.
The group has issued a two-week ultimatum for the government to respond to their demands, warning that failure to do so will result in a demonstration against the MCE, which they believe could negatively impact the government’s standing. “We are prepared to take our fight to the streets if necessary,” the spokesperson added.
“This situation cannot continue, and we will not sit idly by while our community suffers.” As tensions rise within the party and the community, all eyes will be on the government to see how they respond to the demands of the NDC Bomaa Branch
The outcome of this situation may have significant implications for local governance and party unity in Tano North.
