Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin, the majority’s leader, has stated that the minority in Parliament is sabotaging the government’s efforts to approve tax breaks for local Ghanaian companies captured under One-District One-Factory (1D-1F).
He explained that for the past three years, he had made every effort to get these waivers of less than $350 million for 42 Ghanaian companies approved by Parliament.
The majority leader also revealed that the NDC government, led by former President John Dramani Mahama, illegally and without Parliamentary approval granted tax breaks to companies described by the NDC as strategic investors, including Dzata Cement, and a total of $832 million in tax breaks to Meridian Port Services (MPS) alone.
He urged the minority to help the government and the private sector create more jobs for Ghanaian youths.
