At least six supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sustained injuries following an attack on their campaign convoy at Adjakaamanso in Amenfi Central on Saturday night, November 30.
The party’s parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, narrowly escaped harm during the incident, which occurred as her team returned from a campaign rally. Unidentified attackers intercepted the convoy, reportedly smashing the windows of her campaign vehicle. Several supporters suffered injuries to their heads, hands, and legs during the assault.
The injured were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident has been reported to the Wassa Dominase Police Station, which has launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
A victim of the attack, speaking anonymously, described how a vehicle suddenly blocked their path, triggering the confrontation. The reason for the assault remains unclear as investigations continue.
This incident highlights growing concerns about the safety of political candidates and their supporters during the election campaign period. Authorities are being urged to expedite their investigations and ensure justice is served.
