The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Fifi Kwetey has hinted that the election directorate of the party will take full control of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary primaries should the Electoral Commission (EC) fail to supervise the elections.
At a press conference held at the party’s headquarters, the general secretary said the elections will come off as scheduled after the court struck out the lawsuit filed against the primaries by Dr. Kwabena Duffour.
Speaking on the preparedness of the party with respect to the elections, he added that, if in any case should the governing body of elections in the country fail to supervise the elections, the election directorate of the party will make sure the elections take place.
It will be recalled that the Electoral Commission pulled out to supervise the elections due to the court issues surrounding the elections and informed the party of its decision.
As part of the press conference, the general secretary briefed the press and the general public on the number of voters and candidates taking part in the elections.
He indicated that over 356,000 voters are expected to vote in 420 voting centers across the country.
The general secretary also added that there will be no presidential primaries in the Manhyia South constituency.
Elections will begin at 7am and end at 4pm
