The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set December 19, 2026, to hold its National Delegates Conference on, to elect new national party leaders.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, January 29, 2026, General Secretary, Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the internal elections would follow a bottom-to-top approach.

He said the process will begin at the branch level, moving through constituency and regional structures, and culminating at the national level.

He said the filing of nominations would take place from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, 2026, while the vetting of aspirants is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13, 2026.

He disclosed that “Appeals will be done on Sunday, November 15, and Monday, November 16, 2026. Then, for the youth and women conference, we are looking at Saturday, the 12th of December 2026.”

“That congress will happen on Saturday, the 19th December, 2026.”

The Chief Scribe noted that the exercise forms part of the party’s broader preparations to reorganise and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“So that completes the very important edifice that is supposed to prepare for the next round of fighting for the power in the country and also ensure that we continue the good job that we are doing.”

He further announced that its regional elections, to elect party leadership at the regional level, will be held on Saturday, 14 November 2026.

The opening of nominations for the regional elections will take place from Tuesday, 6 October, to Wednesday, 7 October, followed by the filing of nomination forms from Wednesday, 14 October, to Thursday, 15 October.
