The fate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) hangs in the balance as the party heads to court today, May 12, 2023, concerning the hearing of an injunction application filed against its presidential and parliamentary primaries.

The decision to allow the NDC party to hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, or postpone the election to correct its anomalies lies in the bosom of the Accra High Court.

The primaries was scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 13 but one of the flagbearer aspirants, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor dragged the party to court seeking an injunction on the exercise.

Dr. Duffuor’s writ expressed concerns about alleged irregularities in the party’s electoral roll, among other things, justifying his action.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has withdrawn from organizing the elections as it waits for the court to resolve the issues.

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is seeking for an out-of-court settlement following an injunction.

National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says attempts to meet Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and his campaign team to resolve issues have proven difficult.

“I have been trying to get people around the table to do that, but I haven’t succeeded completely, but we are still working along that line, so we have party and court processes underway. But we would have liked that the party’s processes to be exhausted first before the court process comes in. Be as it may, we are running the party’s process along the court process,” Johnson Aseidu Nketia told Citi News
