The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced that it will hold an event to outdoor its running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, for the upcoming 2024 General elections next week.
The event will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Kofi Ohene Konadu auditorium at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
Prominent party figures are expected to attend, including flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, members of the NDC Council of Elders, and the Functional Executive Committee.
A statement released and signed by the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, on Tuesday, April 16, noted that Professor Naana Agyemang will address the public on the NDC’s vision.
Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang was confirmed as the running by John Mahama in March this year for the second time after the acceptance of the Council of Elders of the party.
Opoku-Agyemang, who previously served as the Education minister, was Mahama’s running mate in the unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2020. This marked the first time a major political party like the NDC had a female vice presidential candidate.
Previously the minister of education, Opoku-Agyemang was Mahama’s running partner in his failed 2020 presidential campaign. This was the first time a major political party, such as the NDC, fielded a female candidate for vice president.
