A fire outbreak occurred at Akuse Osokutu, just beside Chrisberg Montessori School, causing significant damage to properties and livelihoods.

According to the Assembly Member of the area, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown. He explained that the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly after receiving the distress call.

However, the poor state of the road network in the area delayed their movement to the scene. By the time firefighters gained access and managed to control the blaze, about five (5) buildings had already been burnt.

Speaking to reporters, Madam Katty Tamakloe, the proprietor of Chrisbeg Montessori School, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. She revealed that the school’s storage facility was completely destroyed by the fire. Important items lost include school documents, pupils’ uniforms, textbooks, and several wedding dresses she had been selling as an additional source of income.

Madam Katty further disclosed that the incident came at a very difficult time for her family, as they were preparing the grounds for her mother’s funeral scheduled for 19th December, before this unfortunate event occurred.

Residents in the area have called on the appropriate authorities to improve road conditions to ensure faster emergency response in the future and to provide support to affected victims.

The incident has left the community in shock, with many appealing for assistance to help victims rebuild their lives.
