The National Election Security Task Force (NESTF) has outlined robust security measures ahead of the final campaign rallies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) today.
The two events, taking place in close proximity, mark the culmination of both parties’ election campaigns.
Addressing the press at the NESTF Media Center, ACP Grace Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, reassured the public of the task force’s preparedness to maintain peace and order throughout the rallies.
ACP Akrofi detailed the comprehensive arrangements, including road diversions, roadblocks, and the deployment of police personnel to secure rally grounds, safeguard participants, and manage traffic flow.
To further bolster security, two police helicopters have been deployed for aerial surveillance.
These helicopters will monitor activities on the ground, identify any suspicious behavior, and provide real-time updates to security teams for swift intervention if necessary.
“This additional layer of security demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the safety of everyone involved—rally attendees, commuters, and the general public,” she stated.
ACP Akrofi reiterated the NESTF’s dedication to delivering a peaceful and secure environment, despite the close proximity of the two rallies.
“We assure the good people of Ghana that the National Election Security Task Force remains vigilant and proactive.
No effort is being spared to ensure that by the end of these rallies, peace and order will prevail,” she emphasized.
The NESTF continues to work tirelessly to uphold its mandate of maintaining law and order throughout the election period, ensuring the safety of citizens and the credibility of the electoral process.
