Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has urged Ghanaian youth to find innovative ways to make their lives better rather than waiting on the government to turn their fortunes around.
Mr. Agyapong said this when he was addressing audience at the Entrepreneurship Jobs for All (E-Jobs4All) Summit at the JACCD Design Institute Africa in Accra on Wednesday, under the theme ‘Entrepreneurship and innovation: the key to sustainable and decent jobs and wealth creation’.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament argued that since the government cannot satisfy everyone’s needs, young people should instead be creative if they want to succeed.
“If you want to succeed in life, never depend on government for your survival because the pie is this big, thirty-two million people, everybody wants a piece of this pie. How much are you going to get,” he asked.
Though he admitted that it is the responsibility of the government to create an environment for people to thrive, he explained that no one will be fed by the government.
“I know government has to create opportunities to let the systems work, so you can take advantage but don’t think the government is going to put food on your table every day. You have to create it yourself. Take advantage of the system and be creative and if you spenf time thinking through what can be done, trust me, you will be a better citizen than others,” he advised.
