Kojo Bamba, an aspirant for the position of National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed deep disappointment over the recent adjustment in cocoa prices in Ghana.
Mr. Bamba criticized the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that the current increment—a 4.1% rise in the price of a 64kg bag of cocoa—is a betrayal of the promises the party made while in opposition.
“In opposition, the NDC described the previous price of GH₵3,100 per bag as a rip-off for cocoa farmers and boldly promised to increase it to GH₵6,500 when elected. However, after assuming power, they’ve only implemented a marginal 4.1% increase. This is a total cheat on our hardworking cocoa farmers,” Mr. Bamba asserted.
He further urged all well-meaning Ghanaians, particularly media professionals and NPP communicators, to hold the government accountable and raise their voices against what he describes as a breach of trust.
