The Kaneshie District Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with two sureties to Shalimar Abbiusi, a Belgian national and spokesperson of “The New Force,” a new political group that has started advertising itself on social media and billboards.

The Kaneshie District Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with two sureties to Shalimar Abbiusi, a Belgian national and spokesperson of “The New Force,” a new political group that has started advertising itself on social media and billboards.

The arrest of the 30-year-old came after the Immigration Service became aware of her role as the spokesperson of the “The New Force” and invited her for questioning and investigations.

Investigations revealed that Abbiusi arrived in Ghana in 2017 and claimed residency as a student at the Ghana Christian University College.

However, the Immigration Service further found out that she never enrolled as a student and the documents she presented were forged.

Supported by both her parents in court on Monday, December 11, 2023, Shalimar Abbiusi pleaded not guilty to obtaining a student permit by false declaration.

The court presided over by Nana Abena Asor Owusu Amenyo then granted bail following a bail application by her lawyers and asked that she re-appear on December 19, 2023.

Hundreds of supporters were on the court premises with placards with the inscription “Free Shallie” to support Shalimar Abbiusi
