Torrential rain that lasted barely some hours have submerged homes in Koforidua – Zongo , New Juaben South Municipality.
The heavy rain forced some residents to abandoned their homes for fear of being drowned. The rain at worst hit Koforidua Zongo.
Residents in Koforidua – Zongo, affected area complained bitterly about the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Isaac Apau – Gyasi failure to fix the poor drainage system in the community.
The President Nana Addo, launched works on a drainage project of 2.7 million dollars drain Nsukwao basin for flood control but still the challenge remains the same in Zongo.
Every year, the locality of Zongo, Nsukwao face dreadful floods leading to the destruction of homes.
The Nsukwao Basin Drainage Project is part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) launched on May 7, 2019 to improve urban management and basic urban service in 25 Municipalities across the Country.
