Newly appointed Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. George Yaw Boakye has said his focus will be to building a unifying force among all political divides in the region to fight issues of poverty, deprivation, illiteracy, and unemployment.
Mr. Boakye who assumed office today, further pledged his commitment to work towards accelerating the pace of development in the region, noting that development can only thrive when there is discipline with people developing positive attitudes as citizens.
He therefore entreated residents of the region to eschew all forms of divisiveness and rally behind him to prosecute his development agenda without discrimination.
Mr. Boakye was addressing a large enthusiastic party faithfuls and government officials in Goaso after being greeted to a rousing welcome into the region.
A clad with white bands and other NPP paraphernalia, scores of people thronged to the high streets of Goaso, Kukuom, Norbekaw, Kwapong and Sankore to catch a glimpse of Mr. George Boakye and to usher him into the region as their new Regional Minister.
One could best describe the feeling and atmosphere among the people as exceptionally charged seeing the ecstatic mood that characterised his formal entry into the region.
There were excellent display of motorbikes with constant blowing of sirens by private and commercial drivers.
After being met on arrival by officials of the Regional Coordinating Council, RCC, Mr. Boakye was treated to some prayers to herald his coming.
Sompahene as he is popularly called, Mr. Boakye received resounding cheers and accolades from residents as he made his way through the Goaso Township.
He then settled at the RCC auditorium where he took turns to address the some opinion leaders, government officials and party stalwarts.
In his remark, Mr Boakye pledged to channel his energy to bringing about total development in the region and called for discipline among the people.
The one time Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo Municipal Assembly and Member of Parliament for the Asunafo South Constituency, respectively, seized the platform to acknowledge the contribution of his predecessor for building a solid foundation for him to continue with the legacy he left behind.
While pledging an open door policy, Mr Boakye also disclosed plans to engage all identifiable groups to chart a common path for development.
Mr. Boakye thanked President Akufo Addo and the entire leadership of the governing NPP for the confidence repose in him and again called on Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP for a better Ghana.
At his hometown, Sankore where he paid a courtesy call on the Chief and people, he promised to do all he can to bring absolute peace to the enclave.
The Omanhene professed that though the task ahead was difficult, he is confident in the abilities of Mr. Boakye, because his proven track record during his tenure as DCE and MP speaks volumes of what he is capable of.
