A 22-year-old woman, Gladys Naa Borkwei, has allegedly beaten her daughter death at Ngleshie Amanfrom.
The deceased was the third child of Gladys, she had with different men.
Speaking to Crime Check, Honyefia, mother of the suspect, said the child was pronounced dead at a health facility at Amanfrom.
According to her, she received news of her grandchild’s hospitalization when she returned from town.
“Gladys called her sister to inform me that she had taken her daughter to the hospital, but she couldn’t tell her exactly what happened,” she recalled.
The elderly woman said she rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news and met Gladys there.
Unfortunately, the child had already passed away when she arrived at the health facility.
She said Gladys could not offer any explanation about the cause of the child’s condition, but doctors who examined the baby found severe bruising.
“We found marks on the child. This made us believe that Gladys had assaulted the child, leading to her demise,” she told Crime Check.
According to the woman, Gladys abuses hard drugs.
Madam Honyefia said the suspect was arrested but was later granted bail.
