Outgoing Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby has announced her retirement from active service and has bid staff farewell after fifteen (15) years of working with the National Health Insurance Authority.

In a farewell message sent to all staff on 22nd April 2022 before proceeding on her retirement, Dr. Dsane-Selby recounted some of her achievements in the past 3 years as Chief Executive, mentioning, deepening the usage of the mobile renewal service to become the preferable method of renewing membership for over 80% of members, developing actuarial models and dashboards to provide credible and accurate information on the sustainability of the scheme for management decision making, leveraging vast available data to provide insights on healthcare consumption patterns, revising the benefit package to include the four commonest childhood cancers and family planning services, increasing the deployment and uptake of the electronic claims management system to about 45% of claims volumesubmitted and for the first time achieving the highest growth to almost 17 million active members.

She re-counted her experience with working at the NHIA when she first joined in 2007 as a Manager and rose through the ranks to become the Chief Executive Officer. She leaves with fond memories of relationships that has helped the Authority to achieve great milestones.

Her NHIA journey began as manager then to Deputy Director of Research and Development. She was later appointed as the first Director of Clinical Audit in 2010 and later appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive, Operations in 2017. She then got the nod for the ultimate position of Chief Executive in 2019 after an appointment by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The new and incoming Chief Executive, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye is expected to assume the position as her successor on the 3rd of May 2022.
