The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has donated boxes of protective nose masks, emergency trolleys, and ergonomic chairs to the LEKMA Hospital in Accra.

The brief ceremony saw the NHIA boss, Dr. Okoe Boye handing over the items to the Hospital to lessen the pressure on the few existing trolleys and chairs at their disposal.

This latest donation from the Authority is the second in recent times after similar donations were made to three other health facilities during the festive season.

The beneficiary facilities included the Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital),  the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital ICU, and the Kaneshie Polyclinic.

The Medical Superintendent of LEKMA hospital, Dr. Gyimah-Asante thanked the NHIA for the gesture with beaming relief. She added that the items will immensely help the hospital in delivering healthcare to patients.

Dr. Gyimah-Asante also praised the NHIA for the timely introduction of the digital platform for the registration of new members. The platform termed, MyNhis App, affords prospective members to digitally register and become members of the Scheme with the use of the Ghana Card.

Third-party registration and renewals are also possible with this innovative platform. She added that patients can now easily access healthcare with the availability of the  MyNHIS Mobile App. Dr. Okoe Boye reiterated the benefits of the App and called on all Ghanaians to take advantage and be part of the Scheme.

The  LEKMA Hospital is a government hospital with a 100-bed capacity and all the units of a general hospital including special services and a laboratory and is located at Teshie in Accra, the nation’s capital.

The NHIS contributes to over 80% of internally generated funds (IGF) of most public healthcare facilities including LEKMA.
