The waiver, which applies from November until December 14, 2025, covers new NHIS members and those renewing their membership after more than three months of expiry.

This was contained in a public notice issued by the authority on Friday, November 14, 2025.

According to the notice, eligible members who enrol or renew during the NHIS Active Month will have immediate access to services under the scheme instead of waiting for one month as usually required.

The authority stated that the initiative is part of the NHIS Active Month campaign.

It is intended to make it easier for people to stay active on the scheme and to help widen access to healthcare.

The notice urged all members, especially those whose cards have expired for more than three months, to renew promptly in order to continue accessing healthcare at an affordable cost.
