Presenting the facts, Police Chief Inspector Anthony Ohene Gyan told the court that the complainant, Jonas Alban, is the Security Supervisor at Asanko Gold Mining Limited at Esaase in the Amansie West District.

The prosecution said the accused, who are friends and alleged illegal miners residing at Tetrem near Esaase, were arrested on June 15, 2026, at about midnight after they were allegedly spotted by the complainant and other security personnel carrying eight sacks containing gold-bearing materials from the mining site.

According to the prosecution, the suspects were apprehended by the security team and handed over to the Ahwerewa Police for further investigation.

Chief Inspector Gyan told the court that the accused admitted to the offences in their caution statements. Following investigations, they were formally charged and brought before the court to stand trial.
