The Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw constituency, Mr. Joseph Frempong has donated some selected medical supplies to the Kwahu West Municipal health directorate.

At a Press conference in the MP’s office on Tuesday, January 13, Mr. Frempong charged the Municipal health director, Madam Celestine Asante to ensure that the provision of the medical supplies meet its intended purpose to safeguard lives in the area.

The medical supplies are part of a periodic consignment that are being made yearly by Peace and Love hospital in Kumasi to assist hospitals in the Kwahu block.

“These are medical equipment from Peace and Love hospital in Kumasi. This is not the first time they are donating to us. They have been giving us medical supplies even in the tenure of Kwakye Darfour and when I assumed office, they’re continuing this initiative. So there was the need for me to donate the items to the Municipal Health Directorate to distribute to hospitals within the constituency”,

He further cautioned the directorate, hospitals, nurses and doctors not to engage in the sale of the medical supplies donated to them to their patients.

“If we had gone to buy these items, possibly, it may have cost us around over ¢50,000 but Peace and Love is giving us freely, but then, we’re urging the hospitals, the nurses and the doctors not to sell to their patients. These are the little things we can do to support ourselves. If you had it free and sell to others, that’s what we’re not encouraging. It’s not for sale and if you’re found selling to patients, we have every right to call the BNI and the police on you”, he cautioned.

The Municipal health director, Madam Celestine Asante through the Eastern Regional health directorate, thanked the MP and assured that the medical supplies will be held accountable and ensure effective use of it.

Some of the items donated are syringes, selected drugs, antibiotics level Fluxacin, blood infusion, etc.

Mrs. Celestine Asante assured that she will deliver the items to the Municipal hospitals as directed.

“We’re grateful to the MP for this medical supplies. We appreciate his efforts of making sure that our people receive a proper medical attention. On behalf of our people and that of the MP, I’ll submit these drugs to the Municipal health directorate as instructed and ensure that it meets the intended purpose”, she affirmed.
