The chiefs and people of Nkwanta-Akrofrom in the Afigya Kwabre South District in the Ashanti Region have celebrated this year’s Akwasidae festival with a call for unity to rebuild Akrofrom near Nkwanta.
Akwasidae is celebrated among the Akans at the end of every traditional calendar month, as families take advantage of the festival to reunite, take stock of what happened throughout the period and plan towards the future.
Last Sunday’s 8th August 2021, celebration at the Akrofrom palace was a unique one to be remembered as the occasion was used to donate some school items to Akrofrom D/A JHS. The items include mathematical sets, printer, question papers, footballs, school jessies and sanitary pads.
The ceremony also saw Otumfour Bosompra Hene, Otumfour Kradware hene and other queen mothers graced the occasion.
In a short speech, Nana Kofi Krah II announced his renewed loyalty to the Akyenpimhene and Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II and promised to contribute towards the development of Nkwanta-Akrofrom and the Asante Kingdom.
He also renounced litigation and said, ‘it only brings about poverty and deprivation’.
Nana Kofi Krah II noted that his persistent quest to reunite all the royals and the people of Akrofrom was paying off as the royal families and other aggrieved family members were returning home to join the process of building a unified traditional area.
“From this day, we expect a total and complete togetherness to rebuild Nkwanta-Akrofrom. Our illustrious history by itself is unable to bring us the development we need at this time to educate our children, create jobs, bring health care, ensure we travel on good roads, and generally bring development which matches the can-do-spirit of our ancestors”.
“Only the Nkwata-Akrofrom can develop our great stool and governments will take us serious when we are united as one people and rally around our paramountcy,” Nana Kofi Krah II stressed.
He, however, advised the district chief executive and the member of parliament, with backing from hidden faces who sought to frustrate the development of Nkwanta-Akrofrom to repent, stating that their efforts would be futile because the unflinching resolve of the people to build Nkwanta-Akrofrom could not be stopped.
In a short sermon, Nana Kofi Krah II, advised the youth to be circumspect about what came out of their mouth to avoid any future mishap.
Traditional rulers from other nearby communities as well as political heads joined the people of Nkwanta-Akrofrom to grace the occasion
