As part of measures to mark its sixtieth (60th) anniversary, the Nkwatia Old Students Association (NOSA) has outlined measures for the preparation and celebration of this year’s annual program.

Speaking in an interview with Republic Online, President of the Association, Daniel Owusu Asumadu (Zigor) indicated the main anniversary is scheduled to take place from November 24 to 30th this year.

Parts of the activities before the meet up was a Health Walk and general discussion with the year – badge groups to date. The group also, used the opportunity to source fund raising for the National Science and Maths Quiz team from the Nkwatia Senior High School.

The association launched the main event scheduled for November on Thursday, May 22 at the GNAT hall in Accra.

The President noted the Association is looking forward to inviting the Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama and the Education Minister to grace the occasion.

The 93′ year Group in July 2022, constructed an eight – bed infirmary for the school. During the President’s speech, he called for the continuous maintenance of the facility. However, among many other important things, Mr. Asumadu sounded for the provision of accommodation for the Teaching staff. He said, lack of teachers presence in the school during leisure hours can breed Indiscipline and immoral behavior.

‘As I speak the school needs a lot of pressing demands, important of it all is the provision of accommodation for teachers. About 95% of the teachers live outside the school’, he stated.

He also laid for the provision of a modern Library and an ICT lab.

The Central organizing committee chairman, Kwame Amo added that between April and May, the association undertook a social contract by planting trees. He said the association plans to at least, for once attend traditional programs within the Nkwatia Area. He added that activities such as Mentorship program, Health screening, clean up exercise, fun games, debate and science quiz and Homecoming will be undertaken before the main event. The main event is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025 with a speech and prize given Day and anniversary proper.

The head mistress for Nkwatia SHS, Gloria Baafi has extended her appreciation to the NOSA and commended them for the construction of the infirmary. She revealed that the 95′ year group also provided the school with forty (40) streetlights to the school. The 89′ donated bulbs and sports kits materials and additional bulbs by the 81′ group.

She touched on the lack of teachers’ presence in the school due to the unavailability of accommodation. She said, when these provisions are made, the authorities will be able to check indiscipline and the protection of students.

“Now the world is a global one and other institutions have such facilities helping students to enhance their studies and I believe such facilities will equally enhance our students, build their confidence level and help them to study”, she added.

Activities for the Program beginning 24th to 30th November:

The official opening of the program will take place on Monday, November 24. A float will take place on that same morning between 9:30 to 1pm. A movie night with members of the association will take place from 5-8pm.

On Tuesday, November 25, a cleanup exercise will be done from 9am to 12noon, whereas a literary night will also occur later that night.

Nkwatia Senior High School has a population of nearly 2,000 students. The headmistress has revealed that the school needs an additional dormitory for the females.
“Some of them are sleeping on the floor and it doesn’t look nice but such issues, it’s very difficult to talk about it but it’s our need and so if we can have additional dormitory and a class room block, it will increase enrollment”,
