President John Dramani Mahama has categorically dismissed allegations of animosity between his administration and the judiciary, emphasizing his government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative relationship with the legal fraternity.
Speaking at a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama sought to dispel perceptions of tension, assuring that his administration values cooperation with the judiciary to fortify governance.
“Government is open to working with you, particularly on our side of the political divide,” Mahama stated, underscoring his administration’s willingness to engage with the legal community.
He acknowledged the existence of a perception that his government has a problem with the legal fraternity, but swiftly moved to allay such concerns.
Mahama cited the presence of esteemed individuals like Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong in his administration as testament to the government’s profound respect for the judiciary.
He reiterated that his administration harbors no hostility toward the judiciary or the legal profession, emphasizing,
“We’re not people who have any such animosity towards the judiciary and the legal fraternity. So our doors are open.”
