Chairman of Asenso Boakye Fun Club, Mr Joseph Osei has donated educational materials to Hwidiem M/A Primary School at Bantama constituency in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The donation, which took place at the school premises was part of the Chairman’s humanitarian activities aimed at encouraging pupils and parents in deprived communities to know the importance of education.
The donation comprised of learning aids and other items such as school cupboard, football kit, chairs books and a well furnished headmasters office.
Speaking to the media, Mr Joseph Osei said, he will continue supporting all needy pupils in the constituency.
An elated headmaster of the school, Mr. Benjamin Adu Boahen, commended the Chairman for the donation and said the donation was timely and would help enhance teaching and learning in the school.
“I think the donation by Mr Joseph Osei is a great one that will help most of the pupils here and I am sure those who are feeling hesitant to come to school will make amends.”
Mr. Boahen appealed to government officials present at the function to continue assisting the school since there were numerous needs facing the school.
He revealed that the school had inadequate classrooms, had no Junior High School students because of lack of classrooms among others.
He also requested from the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the area to bring government’s “free school feeding programme” to the school.
The PTA chairman of school, Bismark Apauh underscored the importance of community participation in promoting quality education.
This he said, rested on parents by putting their maximum efforts in the educational affairs of their wards.
He expressed his excitement and promised they will ensure the items given to them would be put to proper use.
He then commended the Chairman for the donation and said the donation was timely and would help enhance teaching and learning in the school.
